About Marty

Marty Morantz is a business person, lawyer and community philanthropist, born and raised in Winnipeg. He and his wife, Lisa, have resided in the Charleswood-Tuxedo-Whyte Ridge Ward for nearly 20 years, where they are raising their son Jeremy.
On October 22nd, 2014, Morantz was elected as City Councillor for the Charleswood-Tuxedo-Whyte Ridge Ward and is proud to not only represent his constituents, but to also act as the Chairperson for Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works. Morantz previously held the position of Chairperson for the Standing Policy Committee on Finance and remains on the Standing Policy Committee on Innovation.  
Morantz has a B.A. in political studies from the University of Manitoba, and received his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. 
For 23 years, Morantz practiced law as a partner at Levene Tadman LLP in Winnipeg in the areas of real estate, corporate, commercial, and wills and estates. During his tenure, he acted as senior counsel to several large financial institutions and real estate management development firms. 
Since 2009, Morantz has been President of Jernat Investments Ltd., a property investment and financial services firm with holdings primarily in multi-unit apartment buildings. 
Morantz and his family are active community philanthropists ‎and have made major contributions to projects like the Saul Morantz Building at the Simkin Centre, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Community Respite Services, and the University of Winnipeg. 
Morantz currently serves on the board of Shalom Residences Assisted Living. He is a past member of the Refit Centre Foundation finance and investment committee, past board member of the Community Respite Services, Manitoba Families for Effective Autism Treatment (MFEAT), past co-chair of the Jewish National Fund Young Adult Division and past member of the Jewish Federation (CJA) Charitable Allocations Committee and Gray Academy special needs steering committee.
